THE ANNOUNCEMENT

It has been coming for some time and I have been putting it off for months. But the time has come for me to say the big good-bye to the Sims community and Sims stories.

I have been doing sim stories since the fall of 2006 when I posted a few feeble efforts at TSR, started my own blog in 2007. At one time I had three stories going at once. It was not only a hell of a lot of fun but I learned and grew as a writer and storyteller. I also met a lot of fantastic people in my travels.

Over the past few days and over the next week or two, I will post the rest of Crime Story as I wanted those who follow it to read it to the end of the 1970 part. *Chapter 76 is the last one* At the end of January, (or sooner, depends) I will be taking the Crime Story blog off the internet and will not be continuing.

I will leave this main sim stories blog public for now. I want to turn all my attention to my writing and continue to pursue my dreams in the published writing world. Three ebooks already published, I have plans for more~

I want to thank everyone who ever took the time to read and/or comment on anything I posted in sim stories over the past 5+ years. It was YOU who gave me the courage to spread my wings and actually submit something.

If you want to stay in contact, visit my author site at www.karyngerrard.com

Again, thanks everyone. All the best in your goals, dreams and endeavors.

Happy New Year~and cheers to everyone~

Oh my gosh, noooo! lol

Really though, good for you! It's so wonderful to hear that sims stories have helped along the way, it means that there's hope for the rest of us! Well maybe. ;)

I've loved reading CS and any other updates you posted. Your support to the rest of the community is very admiring as well.
You and a few others have been my inspiration to keep writing my sim story, if it wasn't for the support I'm not sure I would've kept it up. So thank you for everything and I wish you good luck in your future endeavors!

*big hugs*

Oh, nooo!

Though it's wonderful for you, I'll miss your sims stories. I always love to go back and read everything again, but then to keep the blog private I think it is the best. I'm going to catch up on your stories in the weekend. I hope you have not shut the blog yet.

I will miss you. Your words were so encouraging, and you are so inspiring to all of us.

:( I'll miss Lorcan definitely and Bonnie & Domingo... *sigh* but thank you for sharing wonderful stories. I hope the best for you.

Aw, Drew, I knew it would be coming eventually. I can completely understand, and I'm excited for you!

This next year will be your year!

I knew this was coming too, actually I am surprised you waited this long, I thought after your first book was published you would do it.

Thanks for posting the rest of Crime Story for us, looking forward to see how it ends. All the best for your future writing adventures.

I've also been expecting this announcement, and while I will miss your Sim stories I understand completely and I hope you'll continue to be successful in the publishing world. Best of luck, Karen :)

I am so proud of you. You have done amazing work for a long time, and you will continue to do so with your ebooks. Congrats, and if you are ever feeling nostalgic you can always check out Teagan over in The Exiled Prince. As Togore he will be getting some face time really soon. ^_^ I look forward to reading the rest of Crime Story and seeing what new ebooks you got coming out. :-)

We always knew it was coming in the back of our minds, and we trained our selves for when it would. And now that it has... I have to say, I wasn't prepared for it!

Drew/Karryn,
You will be severely missed. You're right up there with the big ones and publishing 3 e-books also proves it outside of the Sims community.

Congratulations!
You've been a true inspiration! And will continue to be!
I'm still following your evolution on your author site!
All the best!

Happy New Year!
I'll miss you...

amd,

I am floored. Read since TSR? Wow. I am glad you left a comment now. I appreciate the generous words and the fact you enjoyed my stories.

I know there are a lot of people out there that read and don't leave comments, the number stats tell me that. I appreciate the fact people read it and enjoyed it.

I hopefully plan to continue to be published, with 3 already and in 2012 is all goes well, more.

Thank you for commenting.

Thank you Beth. New chapter is an apt way to put it.

It's time to dim the lights, thanks for always being there, speaking of support.

All the best to you as well~

Jen,

They really did help, sim stories. And I hope they continue to do so. I will still be using the sims to storyboard privately. It is such a great tool.

Keep writing Jen, and all the best to you as well! Keep in touch over at my author blog~

~Drew said...

MJ,

If I am going to use these characters and plots, its best I take it private. I won't be shutting Crime Story down until the end of January, no worries.

Awww, thanks so much! You are a skilled writer and storyteller MJ, keep writing!

And stay in touch over at my author blog!

~Drew said...

Thanks Lunar,

Couldn't put it off anymore. Who knows what 2012 will hold, hope it is fantastic for all of us! Cheers and thanks so much~

~Drew said...

Actually, Jaundyce, I am surprised I waited this long as well. But I did want to get all of Crime Story out there. Hope you enjoy reading it to the end and thanks for you support these last years.

~Drew said...

Silakas,

Again, thanks for the support and thanks for the best wishes!

~Drew said...

Thanks you Van for the kind words, and all the best to you in your endeavors, your talent is formidable.

Cheers~

~Drew said...

Michelle,

Thanks so VERY much! I will certainly check in and thanks for all your support. Please do keep in touch over at my author blog. And keep writing, your talent is immense!

~Drew said...

Thank you Jean-Marie.

Your words are kind and generous. I sincerely hope you do follow me over at my author site and keep in touch!

Happy New Year to you as well.

I just want to add that I think EVERYONE who I have been in contact with who has done sim stories are laden with talent and skill. It is not easy to craft a running narrative, create characters, take the shots and write the text, THEN post it on-line. It is a shit ton of work and sweat and blood. Also you need a certain skill level of storytelling, and you ALL have it.

If you have a dream or goal of someday being published, no matter if it is self, ebook or print, GO FOR IT.

Will miss you all~

Late to the party but I only just found out when I checked Crime Story for the latest chapters.

I too had a sneaky feeling that you were going to do something like this. Especially in recent days, when I saw that 1)you had already taken Crime Story 1964 off the internet. (I fancied a reread) and 2)when all these chapters started coming out.

I'm sad that you've decided to leave us but happy that you're continuing to pursue your writing career. As someone who wants to be a writer, I have to say that you have been an inspiration to me and I wish you every success with your future.

And thank you that you've decided to give us some closure with Crime Story by seeing it through to the end. Too many stories in this community have ended abruptly and I'm glad your story isn't one of them.

Again, thank you.

I found your Crime Story blog like 2 days ago, and I was so addicted, that I read it like hours long to catch up. I have never read better sim story. I love the characters. Thank you for this amazing writing.

Even tough, maybe I am silly, but I don't understand why you take off the blog. I mean , why don't leave it there for future readers? Or for re-readers?

I am sure you have your reasons, but I couldn't figure it out yet =)

Anyway, good luck with your writing career, you are great!

I read ur announcement on the header when I went to read chapter 69, and I read ur story while simultaneously being in a blur and getting teary eyed just thinking that I will not be able to see these characters ever agai or read the stories...It is stg that I frequently do and I must say that I am still sad about it...Not that I do not understand, because really I do! I know what it means when stg much bigger shows up which you have to pursue and you have to leave certain things behind to move on..I know that 'cause that is not unfamiliar with me either...I really enjoyed reading your stories...Always had them and the charcters etched in my memories and my heart everyday...Too bad you cannot leave the blog open for us..Think you could evr consider that??? That would me a lot of us very happy..You don't even need to post anyhting anymore..We just want to be able to escape and go to this dreamworld where everyrhing is still so real...Drew, I wish you good luck in ur new career..You are blessed and I know with a talent of this magnitude you will go very far...Further than most famous writers I bet...Please consider still of leaving this blog open for us to keep enjoying ur stories especially we that are not able (from wher I live) to buy ur books. I would be very grateful and I know quite a few other fans as well...Love your work..Loved Crime Story..the best I ever read..really...I don't just say it cause it' on your blog, I say cause I really mean it..I have not read a bettr story than yours...Not seen a more beautiful character than the one(s) you have in your story...Please don't wnat to miss them.lol..Not really, Im sad..But happy cause I was lucky to have found it and read it over and over..and yet I still can't stop. Thanks for everyhting you delighted my heart with...Drew you are the best! Keep it up!!!

I knew this was coming and it is completely understandable. One door closes and the other opens. I have loved every minute and every word. Will continue to do so with your published work as well!

You have been an inspiration and supportive friend since the beginning. So happy for you and wish you the best!

Let me make a general statement here:

I am not doing this to be mean. I have plans for many of the characters in Crime Story and some of the plots for future Manuscripts for ebooks to submit to publishers and having Crime Story up for public reading is considered 'PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED' and ebook publishers do not like it. I am just covering my bases.

Also if I am to leave the sims community, I want to withdraw completely and not leave up any blogs or be part of any forums or sites any longer.

Again, I am so pleased so many people have enjoyed my stories, thank you so much.

~Drew said...

Joseph, thanks you so very much.

I really don't know what the future will bring with regards to my writing, but I am off to a good start and I want to continue and focus all my attention on it going forward.

It means so much when people say I am an inspiration, wow. Pursue your dreams Joseph. It CAN happen.

Cheers and thanks so much~

~Drew said...

Emi,

See my general statement above. It gives the main reasons the blogs are coming down. So glad you found the story and have been enjoying it.

And thanks you for the luck for my writing endeavors, I can always use it!

The blogs will stay up until the end of Jan. Thanks so much for leaving a comment.

~Drew said...

Hi jade,

Thanks for your emotional comment.

1st- my books are E-books and if you have a computer and a free download of adobe reader, you can purchase my books from anywhere in the world. You don't need an e-reader or need to be in North America. If you check out my author site at www.karyngerrard.com you can see where to buy my books.

2nd-Read the general statement above, I do have good reasons for taking it down. I will post the story to the end and leave it up until the end of Jan, but I can't leave it up any longer as I am already about to submit a manuscript using a Crime Story character. I am so sorry to disappoint some people, but it has to be done if I want to use these characters and/or plots for any future writing.

Thanks so much for all your wonderful comments and heartfelt support. It really has touched me.

~Drew said...

Gayl,

Exactly. I appreciate you understanding and thanks so much. Hearing you enjoyed the storytelling means so much.

You also have been supportive in so many ways I cannot begin to list them. Here's to 2012. Clean slate!

Jade said...

Thank you so much Drew!!!!
I got your point here...Silly of me....But okay, I will see if I will purchase ur books online...that would be great!!!
Thank you for entertaining us with this real, emotional, funny and heartfelt story...It was the best I have read so far..Like watching a movie.. and a good one by the way!! Good luck and we will keep in touch! Thank you again over and over again...
